An Act relative to same day drug screens and tests.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 118E of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2017 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following new section:-

Section 78. Same Day Drug Screens and Tests

The Division of Medical Assistance shall ensure that current regulations, bulletins and practices allow for quantitative drug tests to be billed on the same day as drug screens when medically necessary for managing a patient’s treatment in outpatient pain management or substance abuse treatment settings, including any necessary presumptive and definitive tests.  The Division’s policy shall be consistent with American Medical Association coding.
