An Act ensuring access to addiction services.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 35 of chapter 123 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 73 to 85, inclusive, as amended by section 56 of chapter 47 of the acts of 2017, the words “: (i) a secure facility for women approved by the department of public health or the department of mental health, if a female; or (ii) the Massachusetts correctional institution at Bridgewater or other such facility as designated by the commissioner of correction, if a male; provided, however, that any person so committed shall be housed and treated separately from persons currently serving a criminal sentence” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- a secure facility approved by the department of public health or the department of mental health.

SECTION 2. Said section 35 of said chapter 123, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out the fifth and sixth paragraphs, as inserted by section 57 of chapter 47 of the acts of 2017.
