An Act relative to public safety notification for sober homes.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1: Departments of public safety shall mean any department which provides emergency services in a community including fire departments, police departments, and emergency medical service providers.

SECTION 2: Chapter 17, Section 18A of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 official edition, is hereby amended in subsection (f) by inserting after the word “rehabilitation” the following words: ‘departments of public safety in municipalities where homes are located’

SECTION 3: Chapter 17, Section 18A of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section (h) the following:

(x) Upon certification of a sober home, the bureau shall provide notification to departments of public safety in the municipality where the home is located. This notification shall include the address, name, and contact information for each sober housing location.
