An Act to expand the CARE Act to include same day surgical facilities.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 236 of Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding after line 124 the following definition:

“Ambulatory Surgical Center”, any healthcare facility focused on providing same day surgical care, including diagnostic and preventative procedures as defined by the department of public health.“

SECTION 2. Subsection b of Section 236 of Chapter 111 of the Massachusetts General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting:

in line 144 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 149 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 157 after the word “hospital’s” the words “or ambulatory surgical center’s”;

by inserting in line 172 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 175 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 177 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 179 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 180 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 184 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 195 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 197 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”;

by inserting in line 210 after the word “hospital” the words “or ambulatory surgical center”.
