_______________
An Act granting 10 years of creditable service to Paegan Deering, an employee of the department of environmental protection.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to grant forthwith creditable service to a certain employee of the department of environmental protection, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding section 4 of chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the state retirement board shall credit Paegan Deering, an employee of the department of environmental protection, with 10 years of creditable service for service she rendered to the department from October 20, 2002 to October 20, 2017 for the purpose of determining her superannuation retirement allowance under paragraph (a) of subdivision (2) of section 5 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. Before the date that any retirement allowance becomes effective in the case of Paegan Deering, she shall pay into the annuity savings fund of the state employees’ retirement system, in 1 sum or installments, upon such terms and conditions as the state employees’ retirement system may prescribe, an amount equal to that which would have been withheld as regular deductions from her regular compensation for such previous service. This act shall not affect any other retirement benefits that Paegan Deering may otherwise be entitled to.
