An Act relative to the creditable service for local municipal police and the Massachusetts State Police.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Paragraph (g) of clause (2) of section 3 of chapter 32, as appearing in the 2012 Official Edition, is hereby amended, in line 271, by inserting the following:-
Any member of the Massachusetts State Police or of a local municipal police department, who has previous public safety experience in another state, shall be eligible to count creditable years of service in the Commonwealth; provided that said police officer shall be required to pay into the annuity savings fund of the retirement system in one sum, or in installments, upon conditions as the retirement board or authority shall prescribe, an amount equal to the accumulated regular deductions otherwise payable by the officer had they been an active member in the Massachusetts State Police or local police department at the time of the aforesaid employment, together with regular interest thereon up to his first day of employment in a local police department or in the Massachusetts State Police.
