Resolve relative to the commemoration of Governor James and General John Sullivan.

Resolved, there shall be a plaque permanently installed in the vicinity of the Governor's office in memory of Governor James and General John Sullivan. The plaque shall be a gift from the Navigator Foundation and Friends. The plaque shall describe General John and Governor James Sullivan’s patriotic contributions to the American Revolution and early Republic on behalf of the citizens of Boston, the Commonwealth, and the Country; their positive influence on attitudes of colonial American society toward those of Irish birth or background both during and after the American Revolution; and each man’s personification of the qualities and notable allegiance of the Irish people who overwhelmingly embraced the American cause. The plaque shall also recall the Sullivan’s forebear, historic Irish leader Donal Cam O’Sullivan Beara, who won renown at Kinsale’s siege and heroically embodied Ireland's extended sacrifice to defend Irish liberty against invasion, occupation, usurpation and mass mortality that would later move her children present at the beginning in this country to support American freedom. The design and content of the plaque shall be subject to review and approval by the Art Commission in accordance with Chapter 6, Section 20 of the Massachusetts General Laws.
