An Act relative to alternative fuel vehicle charging stations.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 16 of chapter 25A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “membership”, in line 39, the following words:- Any person who parks a vehicle that is not compatible with an electronic or hydroelectric charging station in a publicly available parking spot equipped with an electronic charging station, shall be subject to a fine of $100 for a first offense and $200 for a second or subsequent offense.

SECTION 2. Said chapter 25A is hereby amended by inserting after sub-section 16F the following section:-

Sub-Section 16G. The Department of Transportation (DOT) shall have the authority to lease parcels of land for the purpose of building electric vehicle charging stations and hydroelectric vehicle charging stations adjacent to state highways and interstates. Parcels of land shall include, but are not limited to, safety rest areas, inspection stations, or referee stations, as defined in chapter 90 and chapter 93D of the General Laws.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
