Mills II for legislation to authorize the Registrar of Motor Vehicles to issue special parking identification placards bearing the designation "International Symbol of Access" to certain handicapped persons.  Transportation.

An Act relative to keeping multiple copies of handicapped parking placards.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. The ninth paragraph of Section 2 of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 official edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 302-305, the following words-

"The registrar may also furnish a special parking identification placard bearing the designation 'International Symbol of Access' to any person who meets the eligibility requirements for handicapped plates prescribed herein."

and inserting in place thereof the following words-

"The registrar may also furnish one (1) copy of a special parking identification placard bearing the designation 'International Symbol of Access' per motor vehicle registered to any person who meets the eligibility requirements for handicapped plates prescribed herein or to any household member of a person so eligible, provided that the household member in possession of a placard is transporting the eligible person while the placard is in use."
