By Mr. Speliotis of Danvers, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3243) of Theodore C. Speliotis and others for legislation to require cities and towns requesting certain exemptions from the civil service law to submit the hiring policies of such municipality to the Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs for approval.  Veterans and Federal Affairs.

An Act to protect the veterans hiring preference.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 31 of the general laws, as appearing in the 2016 official edition, is hereby amended by adding the following section:

Section 78

Any municipality which seeks to be exempt from the provisions of chapter 31 must submit their hiring policies to the secretary of veteran’s affairs for approval prior to exempting positions from said chapter 31.
