Section 7 of Chapter 209A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended in the fifth paragraph, by striking out the first sentence and inserting in place thereof the following:-
“Any violation of such order or a protection order issued by another jurisdiction shall, if a first offense, be punishable by a fine of not more than five thousand dollars, or by imprisonment for not more than two and one-half years in a house of correction, or by both such fine and imprisonment. Second or subsequent offenses shall be punishable by a fine of not more than ten thousand dollars, imprisonment in a state prison for a term of not more than five years, or by both such fine and imprisonment.”.
