An Act relative to health insurance coverage for structured outpatient addiction programs.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 118E of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 10L, inserted by section 71 of chapter 208 of the acts of 2018, the following section:-

Section 10M. As used in this section, the term “structured outpatient addiction treatment” shall mean treatment under a program that provides clinically intensive and structured outpatient services for persons with substance use disorder or persons with substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health disorder.

The division and its contracted health insurers, health plans, health maintenance organizations, behavioral health management firms and third party administrators under contract to a Medicaid managed care organization or primary care clinician plan shall cover the cost of structured outpatient addiction treatment.
