By Mr. Vitolo of Brookline, a petition (accompanied by bill, House, No. 3626) of Tommy Vitolo and others for legislation to further regulate the definition of pedestrian to include non-motorized scooters, bicycles, and small-wheeled transporters such as roller blades, roller skates or skateboards in marked crosswalks.  Transportation.

An Act relative to roadway safety.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section 11 of chapter 89 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following paragraph:-

A person using a non-motorized vehicle, which shall mean a non-motorized scooter, bicycle, and small-wheeled transport such as roller blades, roller skates or a skateboard, who is crossing the roadway in a marked crosswalk where traffic control signals are not in place or not in operation, shall be considered a pedestrian for purposes of this section.
