An Act relative to local business owners voting in municipal elections.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 51 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 1F the following section:-
Section 1G. A city or town that accepts the provisions of this section may provide for the qualification and registration of voters for voting in any town meeting or municipal election to any citizen of the United States of the age of 18 years or more who, jointly or severally, is liable to the city or town for taxes assessed against such person on an assessment of not less than $1,000 as of the last assessment of such city or town under section 11 of chapter 59.
