Chapter 94C of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following section: –
Section 50. A practitioner, who issues a prescription for a controlled substance placed in Schedule II, which contains an opiate, shall be liable to the patient for whom the written prescription was written, for the payment of the first 90 days of in-patient hospitalization costs if the patient becomes addicted and is subsequently hospitalized.
