An Act relative to innovations in energy management technologies in regenerative braking for metro trains in the commonwealth.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Chapter 40J of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 4F the following new section:-

Section 4F ½. Funds shall be expended for grants or awards to support emerging technologies of innovations in energy management technologies, in regenerative braking for metro trains, administered by Massachusetts Technology Collaborative established by section 2 of chapter 40J of the General Laws, and doing business as Innovation Institute at the MassTech Collaborative, Massachusetts Research Center Matching Fund; provided such awards or grants shall be leverage in accordance M.G.L Chapter 40J Section 4F and with participation of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority to address energy use and greenhouse gas reductions and with grants or awards from another State’s nationally recognized research agency or a federal agency, but not limited to, the U.S Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Energy, U. S. Department of Transportation, Sandia National Labs (SNL), New York State Energy Research and Development (NYSERDA), Lawrence Livermore (LLNL), Pacific Northwest National Lab, California Energy Commission (CEC) or the National Science Foundation
