An Act to enhance opportunities for veterans at the Massachusetts Port Authority.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 465 of the acts of 1956 is hereby amended by adding the following section: –
Section 37. When considering applicants for employment with the Authority, the Authority shall develop rules and regulations for the hiring of employees that include guidelines for preferential consideration of applicants who are veterans as defined under section 1 of chapter 31 of the General Laws. As used in this section, the word “employee” shall have the same meaning as “employee” in section 1 of chapter 32 of the General Laws and shall also include consultants and independent contractors who are natural persons paid by the Authority.
