An Act regarding the terms of office for city councillors.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Section 1. Chapter 376 of the Acts of 1951 shall be amended in Section 1.14 by striking the second sentence and inserting in place thereof the following sentence:
Each councilor shall hold office for the four years following the municipal year in which he is elected.
Section 2. The provisions of this act shall take effect upon its passage.
Section 3. If any of the above sections are determined to not be constitutional under the law, the remainder of the provisions shall remain valid.
