To the Honorable Senate and House of Representatives,
Pursuant to the provisions of Article II, Section 8, Paragraph 1, Clause (2) of the Amendments to the Constitution, as appearing in Article LXXXIX of said Amendments, I am filing for your consideration the attached legislation entitled “An Act Validating the Actions Taken at the Annual Town Election Held in the Town of Dudley.”
I am filing this special legislation at the request of the Dudley Board of Selectmen.
The legislation ratifies all acts, proceedings, and votes taken by the Town at its annual Town election on June 10, 2019. The ratification serves to address in advance any question that might arise due to a minor irregularity in the form of public notice that the Town provided regarding the ballot in advance of the election. While the Town did post a specimen ballot and a listing of all candidates on the Town website, the Town did not, as required by statute, also post in a public place a physical copy of the warrant approving the form of ballot, signed by the Board of Selectmen.
