An Act abolishing the sewer commission of the town of Royalston.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law or bylaw to the contrary, the town of Royalston sewer commission is hereby abolished and the tenure of any incumbent commissioner terminated.
(b) Upon the effective date of this act, the select board of the town of Royalston shall have all the powers and duties now or from time to time vested in the sewer commission and sewer commissioners by general or special act, town bylaw or other applicable laws. This act shall not revoke or limit the town or the select board from exercising any powers or duties previously granted to the sewer commission and the sewer commissioners. No existing contract or liability in force on the effective date of this act shall be affected.
(c) This act shall not affect or otherwise alter the responsibility of the department of public works to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment system pursuant to chapter 417 of the acts of 1996.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
