An Act relative to the authorities of municipal light boards.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to establish forthwith additional powers for municipal light boards, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Chapter 164 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 55 the following section:-
Section 55A. A municipal light board may enter into an agreement with the city or town where it operates to provide billing, administrative, operational or other support services to assist said city or town with the operation of a municipal water utility owned and operated by said city or town upon such terms and conditions as agreed to by the city or town and the municipal light board. All revenues, receipts and funds received in the operation of the municipal water utility by the municipal light board shall be kept in an enterprise fund created pursuant to section 53F½ of chapter 44.
