An Act designating a certain bridge in the town of Sandwich as the Commander Francis T. Williams & Sandwich Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a certain bridge in the town of Sandwich, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

SECTION 1. Bridge S-04-001 (4A4) on Route 6A in the Town of Sandwich, spanning Scorton Creek shall be designated and known as the “Commander Francis T. Williams & Sandwich Veterans Memorial Bridge” in recognition of Commander Francis T. Williams, a beloved resident of Sandwich, who served as a Commander in the United States Navy. Francis lost his life on February 25, 2013, while on Active Duty. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain a suitable marker bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
