An Act relative to the 2020 state primary and general election.

 

Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to account for delays in absentee voting, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.
 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 54 of the General Laws is hereby amended by adding the following new section:-

SECTION 86A. The following shall be in effect for the state primaries taking place on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 and the state election taking place on Tuesday, November 3, 2020.

Any voter whose application for an official absent voting ballot has been filed with the city or town clerk as provided in section eighty-nine, and certified under section ninety-one, may vote in accordance with sections eighty-seven to one hundred and three, inclusive.
