An Act relative to the board of selectmen of the town of Dighton.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Dighton shall be known as the select board and shall have the powers and authority of board of selectmen under any general or special law.
SECTION 2. Section 1 shall be submitted for acceptance to the voters of the town of Dighton at a regular or special town election, in the form of the following question, which shall be placed on the official ballot: “Shall an act passed by the General Court in the year 2020 entitled ‘An Act relative to the board of selectmen of the town of Dighton’ be accepted?” Below the question shall appear a summary of the act prepared by the town counsel and approved by the board of selectmen. If the majority of votes in answer to said question is in the affirmative, section 1 of this act shall take effect, but not otherwise.
