SECTION 1. Section 1-3 of Part I of the charter of the town of Chatham, which is on file in the office of the archivist of the commonwealth, as provided in section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 2.  Section 1-7 of said Part I of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 3.  Section 2-4 of Part II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - select board.

SECTION 4.  Section 2-6 of said Part II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time it appears, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 5.  Section 2-7 of said Part II of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - select board.

SECTION 6. Section 3-1 of Part III of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words: - select board.

SECTION 7.  The heading and Subsections (a), (c), (d), and (e) of Section 3-2 of said Part III of said charter are hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 8.  Subsection (b) of said Section 3-2 of said Part III is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear with the exception of the third reference thereto, and inserting in place thereof, the words:- select board; and, further, by inserting the words “and/or select boards” after the third reference to “board of selectmen” in said Subsection (b).

SECTION 9.  Section 4-1 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 10.  Section 4-2 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, in the heading and each other time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 11.  Section 4-3 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 12.  Section 4-4 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 13.  Section 4-5 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 14.  Section 4-6 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 15.  The introductory paragraph and Subsections (a), (b), (d), (f), (g), (m), (o) and (r) of Section 4-7 of Part IV of said charter are hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and “selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 16.  Section 4-8 of Part IV of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 17. Subsections (a), (b) and (d) of Section 5-1 of Part V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 18.  Section 5-2 of Part V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 19.  Section 5-3 of Part V of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 20.  Section 6-1 of Part VI of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 21.  Section 6-2 of Part VI of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 22.  Subsection (b) of Section 6-3 of said Part VI of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 23.  Section 6-4 of Part VI of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, in the heading and each other time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 24.  Section 6-5 of Part VI of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 25.  Section 7-2 of Part VII of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, and inserting in place thereof, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 26.  Section 7-3 of Part VII of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “selectmen” and “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 27.  Section 8-2 of Part VIII of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, and inserting in place thereof, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 28.  Chapter 457 of the Acts of 2012 is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and “selectmen”, each time they appear therein, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words: - select board.

SECTION 29.  This act shall take effect upon its passage.
