An Act relative to group care facilities.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 1A of chapter 15D of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended in the definition of “Group care facility” by adding after the first sentence the following sentence:-

Private residential special education schools that provide regular residential care shall be considered group care facilities only if the schools provide special education services that are intended to lead to a high school degree or its equivalency, excluding independent living programs, to children with special needs under the age of 22.
