An Act relative to the Swansea Redevelopment Authority.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Section X "Not withstanding the provisions of Section 5 of Chapter 121B of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, the terms of the initial members of the Swansea Redevelopment Authority, both those members that were appointed by the Swansea Board of Selectmen and the member that was appointed by the Department of Housing and Community Development, shall expire on June 30, 2021, with subsequent membership of the Swansea Redevelopment Authority being appointed as follows:

Subsection X The Department of Housing and Community Development shall appoint one member to an individual term of three years, and shall appoint each successor thereof to a term of five years; provided, that any appointment that occurs during the middle of a term due to delay by the Department or a new vacancy in the position shall be effective only for the remainder of the unexpired term; further provided, that if the Department fails to make any such appointment within 180 days of the conclusion of the prior term or of a vacancy in the position, then the Swansea Board of Selectmen map appoint said member for the remainder of the unexpired term, and shall provide written notice of that appointment to the Department; and

Subsection X The Swansea Board of Selectmen shall appoint four members to initial terms of one, two, four and five years, respectively, and shall appoint each successor thereof to terms of five years; provided, that any appointment that occurs during the middle of a term due to delay by the Selectmen or a new vacancy in the position shall be effective only for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Section X Except as otherwise provided herein, the provisions of Chapter 121B of the General Laws relative to redevelopment authorities shall apply to the Swansea Redevelopment Authority.

Section X This Act shall take effect upon its passage
