An Act relative to the board of selectmen in the town of Becket.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. The first sentence of section 2 of chapter 662 of the acts of 1989, as most recently amended by chapter 475 of the acts of 2008, is hereby further amended by striking out clause (b) and inserting in place thereof the following clause:- (b) select board.

SECTION 2. Said chapter 662, as most recently amended by chapter 269 of the acts of 2016, is hereby further amended by striking out section 3 and inserting in place thereof the following section:-

Section 3. There shall be a select board elected as provided by in section 2. The select board shall, except as otherwise provided herein, have all the powers, duties and responsibilities of a board of selectmen as provided in the General Laws, as well as those set forth by this charter.

SECTION 4. Section 4 of said chapter 662, as most recently amended by said chapter 269, is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “select board”.

SECTION 5. Section 5 of said chapter 662, as most recently amended by section 3 of chapter 184 of the acts of 2000, is hereby amended by striking out the word “selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board members.

SECTION 6. Section 7 of said chapter 662, as appearing in section 1 of chapter 158 of the acts of 1996, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 7. Section 8 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 8. Section 9 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 9. Section 10 of said chapter 662 is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 10. Section 11 of said chapter 662, as appearing in section 2 of chapter 158 of the acts of 1996, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 11. Paragraph (a) of section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 12. Paragraph (b) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 13. Paragraph (c) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 14. Paragraph (d) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 15. Paragraph (e) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 16. The first sentence of paragraph (f) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 17. The third sentence of paragraph (g) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 18. Paragraph (h) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 19. Paragraph (i) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 20. Paragraph (j) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 21. Paragraph (m) of said section 12 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by striking out, in the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 22. The third sentence of section 14 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen”, each time they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- select board.

SECTION 23. The second sentence of section 16 of said chapter 662, as so appearing, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 24. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
