An Act requiring collaboration with MA DOT on school building projects.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
To amend Section 3D to require an affirmative report and collaboration with the DOT on projects as follows:
“Annually, not later than January 30th of each calendar year, the Authority shall submit to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation Highway Division a report with all ongoing and approved projects for the subsequent five years. The Authority’s report shall include the location of any public schoolhouse project receiving funding from the Authority, the scope of the approved or proposed project, cost, and construction schedule. Annually, not later than March 1st of the calendar year and prior to the publication of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation capital plan required under Chapter 6C of the General Laws, the Authority shall meet with the Highway Division to review the Authority’s projects. The Highway Division shall evaluate the proposed projects impacts to local and regional traffic, including bicycle and pedestrian paths of travel, and provide to both the Authority and the respective cities and towns notifications of existing or planned transportation projects within five miles of the public schoolhouse. The Highway Division shall provide to the respective cities and towns an opportunity to review and amend the existing and proposed designs of the projects to incorporate the Authority’s proposed projects.”
