Feeney for legislation to establish a special commission to study whether Willett Pond and its appurtenances should be deeded to the Department of Conservation and Recreation.  Environment, Natural Resources and Agriculture.

An Act creating a commission to study Willett Pond.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary:

There is hereby established a commission to study whether Willett Pond and its appurtenances should be deeded to the state department of Conservation and Recreation at no cost to the Commonwealth in order to provide new public access for outdoor recreation and to preserve the species and ecosystem of said pond.

The commission shall include a representative or designee from the Executive office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, a representative or designee from the department of Conservation & Recreation, a representative or designee from the Boards of Selectmen of the towns of Walpole, Westwood, and Norwood; a representative or designee from the Willet Pond Charitable and Protective Association; a representative or designee from the North Walpole Fish and Game Club; a representative or designee from the Neponset River Watershed Association.  The commission shall make its findings and submit same to the Secretary of the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs, the clerks of the house and senate on or before  June 30, 2019.
