An Act relative to controlling healthcare cost growth for consumers by directing carriers to constrain the variation in payment to providers within their networks.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Chapter 176O is hereby amended by adding after section 27 thereof the following section:-

Section 28. Each carrier shall annually submit to the commissioner, in a form approved by the commissioner, materials attesting that the rates of reimbursement paid to providers within the carrier’s network vary by no more than 30 percent.    

SECTION 2. This section shall be effective for carriers licensed by the Division no later than January 1, 2022.
