An Act relative to inspections for new vehicles and motorcycles.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 7A of chapter 90 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 44 to 46, inclusive, the words “; provided, however, that for motor vehicles one model year old or less, the registrar may require that the initial inspection mandated by this paragraph be performed at the end of the first full year of registration.”

SECTION 2. Said section 7A of said chapter 90, as so appearing, is hereby further amended by inserting after the fifth paragraph the following paragraph:-

Motor vehicles, including motorcycles, shall not be subject to the required periodic staggered inspection or annual maintenance inspection until at least 2 years after the date on which the title for said motor vehicle or motorcycle was initially transferred to the first purchaser, provided, that this provision shall not be applicable to the required inspections of school buses, buses and transportation network vehicles pursuant to this chapter.
