In the One Hundred and Ninety-First General Court
(2019-2020)
_______________
An Act establishing the COVID-19 Quarantine Assistance Fund.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to establish forthwith a fund providing financial assistance to residents who experience certain financial hardship as a result of COVID-19, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. There shall be established on the books of the commonwealth the COVID-19 Quarantine Assistance Fund, which shall be administered by the secretary of health and human services. There shall be credited to said fund all amounts that are, by law, transferred or authorized to be transferred thereto or directed to be deposited therein, and all amounts received as gifts, grants, or contributions for the purposes of the fund. Funds shall be expended for grants to residents of the commonwealth who become unable to perform wage-earning services as a result of a COVID-19 infection, quarantine or isolation period. Amounts credited to the fund shall not be subject to further appropriation.
