An Act relative to increased consumer protections during a state of emergency.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 93A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding at the end thereof the following section:-
Section 12. Any person in violation of this chapter, while employing such method, act or practice during the governor’s declaration of a state of emergency, shall be subject to a fine of two times the amount otherwise in effect for the violation issued, and such orders or judgments as may be necessary to restore any person who has suffered any ascertainable loss of any moneys or property, real or personal, or up to five but not less than three times that amount.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
