An Act relative to water and sewer plant operator pension group classification.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

Chapter 32 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2018 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding  the following section:-

SECTION 106. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, water and sewer treatment plant operators shall be eligible for classification as members of pension group 4 by the Massachusetts state board of retirement pursuant to section 3 of chapter 32 of the General Laws. For purposes of this section, the term “water and sewer treatment plant operators” shall mean state and municipal operators of wastewater treatment facilities and drinking water supply facilities who possess valid licensure or certification issued by the Massachusetts department of environmental protection pursuant to sections 34A and 34B of chapter 21 or the board of certification of operators of drinking water supply facilities pursuant to section 66B of chapter 13.
