An Act relative to crimes against police officers.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 39 of Chapter 265 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2014 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out, in lines 4 and 5, the words “or disability” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- disability or employment as a police officer.
SECTION 2. Subsection (a) of said Section 39 of Chapter 265, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following sentence:- For the purposes of this section, the term “police officer” shall mean any officer of a county, municipal or campus police department, the office of environmental law enforcement, the department of the state police, or the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority police department.
