An Act expanding whistleblower protections.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 185 of chapter 149 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by striking out the definition of “Employer” and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-

“Employer”, any person, individual, firm, corporation, partnership, association or other entity engaged in a business or in providing services, including the commonwealth, and its agencies or political subdivisions, including, but not limited to, cities, towns, counties and regional school districts, or any authority, commission, board or instrumentality thereof.
