An Act to ensure timely firearms license processing.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 131 of Chapter 140 of the General Laws as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition is hereby amended in subsection (e) in the third paragraph by inserting the following at the end thereof:-

"If the licensing authority fails to either approve the application and issue the license or deny the application and notify the applicant with the reason for such denial within 40 days of the receipt of the application, the application fee shall be forfeit and the applicant shall be entitled to a full refund of any fees paid for the processing of said application."
