An Act reducing regulations for hair braiders.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 87T of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding, after the definition of “Mobile services”, the following definition:-

“Natural Hair Braiding”, twisting, wrapping, weaving, extending, locking, or braiding the hair either by hand or with mechanical devices.

SECTION 2. Said section 87T shall be further amended by adding at the end of the definition of “Hairdressing” the following:-

, except that “Hairdressing” shall not including Natural Hair Braiding.

SECTION 3. The first paragraph of section 87V of chapter 112 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting at the end thereof the following:-

Natural hair braiding shall be exempt from the rules and regulations issued by the Board.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
