An Act authorizing the State Retirement Board to grant creditable service to Joseph Suppa.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, and in order to promote the public good, the State Board of Retirement shall credit Joseph Suppa, an employee of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, with full-time creditable service for his employment service already so rendered from March 1, 2004 to January 29, 2007 and January 29, 2011 to July 15, 2011 to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for the purpose of determining a retirement allowance under Chapter 32 of the General Laws. Joseph Suppa must satisfy all other applicable eligibility requirements for a retirement allowance as set forth in Chapter 32 of the General Laws, and under the rules and regulations of the State Board of Retirement.

Eligibility for this creditable service shall be conditioned upon payment by Joseph Suppa to the Massachusetts State Retirement System of an amount equal to the retirement contributions that would have been deducted under said Chapter 32 if he had received regular compensation during this entire period at a full-time annual rate based on the annual rate of regular compensation that he was receiving, plus buy back interest thereon. Such repayment shall be made in one lump sum or in installments under terms and conditions as the State Retirement Board shall prescribe. Any such payments must be completed prior to the effective date of any retirement allowance requested.
