An Act establishing creditable service for veterans.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1.  Section 46 of chapter 30 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after subsection 1B the following section:-

(1C)  An employee with 7 years of creditable service who is a veteran, as defined by the forty-third clause of section 7 of chapter 4, shall upon the employee’s seventh anniversary of hire, be advanced to the maximum step in the employee’s job group.

SECTION 2.  Any employee who, as of the effective date of this act, satisfies the requirements of subsection 1C of section 46 of chapter 30 of the General Laws shall immediately be advanced to the maximum step in the employee’s job group.
