An Act requiring public disclosure of certain gifts.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 23 of chapter 268A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting after the word “person”, in line 22, the following words:- , including by giving a gift of substantial value, except a political contribution publicly reported as required by law, in connection with a matter within the officer’s or employee’s official responsibility.

SECTION 2. Subsection (g) of section 5 of chapter 268B of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after clause (5) the following clause:-

(5A) the name and address of the recipient, and the fair market value, if determinable, of any gift of substantial value given by the reporting person or their immediate family member in connection with a matter within the reporting person’s official responsibility.
