An Act relative to school attendance incentives.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the MBTA shall issue free bus, train, and commuter rail passes for the months of June, July, and August to any Public School student, grade 8-12, who meets the following qualifications in the school year immediately preceding that June:-
a) Qualifies for free or reduced price lunch
b) Has a demonstrable record of attending at least 90% of school days in that school year
c) Receives a free or subsidized MBTA pass during the school year
SECTION 2. This legislation shall be subject the approval of the local school committee.
