An Act establishing a rapid bus route in the South Boston section of the city of Boston.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding and special or general laws to the contrary, the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority shall, in consultation with the State Senator from the First Suffolk District, the State Representative from the Fourth Suffolk District, the Boston City Councilor for District 2, and at least one Boston City Councilor at Large, develop and implement an alternative bus route in the South Boston section of the city of Boston to connect the City Point Bus Depot and South Station. Said route shall bypass Summer street between L street and D Street, and shall run at peak service time during the morning commuting hours. Said route may head west down first street, turn northeast up D street, and turn northwest onto Summer Street in order to arrive at South Station.
SECTION 2. The pilot program shall be fully developed and implemented no later than 180 days after passage.
