An Act granting noncitizen permanent residents in the town of Warwick the right to vote in municipal elections.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 1 of chapter 51 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, residents of the town of Warwick who are aliens lawfully admitted for permanent residence in the United States and who meet all qualifications for registering to vote except for United States citizenship may, upon application, vote in municipal elections in the town of Warwick.
SECTION 2. The select board of the town of Warwick may promulgate regulations to implement this act.
SECTION 3. Nothing in this act shall confer upon a permanent resident alien the right to vote in a state or federal election.
