An Act relative to emergency prescriptions.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 17 of chapter 94C, as appearing in the 2016 Official Edition of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out subsection (c) in its entirety and inserting in place thereof the following:-
(c) A controlled substance included in Schedule III, IV, V or VI shall not be dispensed without a written or oral prescription of a practitioner, except in emergency situations, as defined and limited by rule or regulation of the commissioner acting jointly with the board of registration in pharmacy.
