(2019-2020)
_______________
An Act relative to summer courses at virtual schools.
Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to provide summer virtual learning opportunities during the COVID-19 state of emergency, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, this act would allow students and families to directly enroll in summer school courses at a Commonwealth Virtual School as described in Section 94 of Chapter 71 in the Massachusetts General Laws without first establishing an agreement between the virtual school and the sending school district. The summer courses will be available at cost to the individual families.
This act shall sunset with the lifting of the state of emergency and the resumption of in-person school service in the Commonwealth.
