By Mr. Rush, a petition (accompanied by bill, Senate, No. 2810) (subject to Joint Rule 12) of Michael F. Rush, Michael O. Moore, James B. Eldridge, Carole A. Fiola and other members of the General Court for legislation to make the Secretary of Veterans Services a cabinet level position.  State Administration and Regulatory Oversight.

An Act relative to the secretary of veterans’ services.

 

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 17a of Chapter 6 is hereby amended by adding after the word “transportation” the following:- “, the commissioner of veterans services,”

SECTION 2. Section 16 of chapter 6A is hereby amended in line 34 by striking out the words:- (5) the department of veterans’ services, who shall be appointed by the governor, which shall include the Soldiers’ Home in Massachusetts and the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke.

SECTION 3. Section 4M of Chapter 7 is hereby repealed.
