An Act to protect communities of color.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
By a Person of the Commonwealth, a petition for legislation relative to the protection of communities of color from the unintended negative consequences that will result from The Acts of 2019, Chapter 13, Section 28 banning the sale of menthol tobacco.
The purpose of this bill is to provide the state with sufficient time to address the disproportionate economic, social, public health, and community safety impacts the combination of the COVID -19 pandemic, and the banning of the sale of menthol tobacco products will have on communities of color.
SECTION 1. Amend the Acts of 2019, Chapter 133, Section 28, by striking 2020, and replacing it with 2021, or a date certain 12 months from the date of passage of this bill.
SECTION 2. This act will take effect upon passage.
