An Act to provide certain retirement benefits to the widow of Everett Police Captain Richard Basteri.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding section 12 of Chapter 32 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, and in order to promote the public good, the retirement board of the City of Everett shall pay Michelle Basteri, the surviving spouse of Richard Basteri, a former Everett Police Captain of the City of Everett Police Department, retirement benefits as of March 31, 2020 equal benefits which would have paid to her had said Richard Basteri been retired for ordinary retirement as of said date and had elected to receive a pension or retirement allowance under the provisions of option (c) of subdivision (2) of section 12 of chapter 32 of the General Laws.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon passage.
